Let us know how that goes won't you?

Seriously, I hope they are genuine as it's quite a big time investment to find out they don't work or worse still if they break up and knacker your engine.

I did and I also watched the link to the fake plugs and looking at the pics they look genuine to me but when they get here I will check them and if they are not then eBay will be handling it .

It's a moderately easy job to do yourself - I wrote a guide on here somewhere. If you get it done by a garage it will be a couple of hours labour.

These are compatible according to Denso so as long as I check them against the "fake checker" link I should be ok.

Please compare the plugs you get  sent to the info in the ‘Fake Plug Info’ attachment very carefully before fitting them as the Listings on eBay state ‘ Images are generic and you will be sent correct plugs for your car’ well if that was not a warning to double check then I don’t know what is!

ok plugs arrived today and I have checked them out re: Fake and everything checks out I am sure they are genuine so in all very happy bear in mind these are an alternative to the original denso listing

ok so the plugs fitted today and oil and filter carried out and while she was in bits I cleaned the inlet manifold and throttle body , quick inspect of the backs of the valves that I could see and they had minimal carbon on them so happy put her back together reset ECU by removing ects and efi fuse quick road test feels very smooth and tick over a rock steady  700rpm.

Its just run 102000 miles I looked down into the inlet and the backs of the valves are clean only slight carbon considering these direct injection engines are prone to carbon build up up especially in USA where they have poorer fuel I was very happy with the state of them, it did have a small erratic idle occasionally just shook as if wind was blowing car but since I cleaned the throttle body it's gone.

The tickover was 1500rpm after cleaning due to the ecu having setting the idle to the position the throttle flap was in due to the carbon build up on the opening flap had held it open slightly , so I  pulled the ects and efi fuse which clears all ecu settings and started her up and back to 700rpm in gear and it runs so much better.

Well you know what Rod? Those photos of your cars inlet ports show us owners of the superb is250 that we need not worry about carbon build up like those in America. I was, until I saw those pics, going to get my car carbon cleaned before taking it for its service. Now I'm not going to.

The trouble with carbon clean is they put it through the injectors in most cases and the IS250 engine is direct injection ie the fuel is injected via a separate port 

so the cleaner does not actually get on to the inlet and exh valves so it imo a waste of time, the only way to get to the valves is through the inlet manifold which involves stripping to the level in the pics and worse case head removal the Americans do have it harder than us.  But quality fuel and proper oil changes with the correct oil low sulphur, low ash type is the way to go .

I always use Q8 Formula Special D1 5W-30

They look to be replicator OEM parts, I doubt that Denso actually make them but maybe you got lucky.

I got plugs for my CT from The Green Spark Plug Co at about £8 a unit they arrived the next day which was impressive. The original plugs were Denso but were out of stock,the recommended alternative were NGK which i have found to be excellent with no difference in performance.The job on the CT took me 30 minutes for all 4,despite my local dealer telling me the manifold would need to be removed and was a major job,all i did was remove the plastic cover on top of the engine.

That is around the going rate for plugs, I replaced them on my Subaru earlier this year - NGK laser iridium is what the manual says so that is what I got - 6 cost me £55 and about 2 1/2 hours of my time

I got my Is250 at 120k miles and changed the plugs with the Denso iridium ones. There was no mention of a spark plug change in the service history and the old ones were fine so I kept them. They are pricier than most, however, considering that they can last you more than 100k miles easily, I'd say it's a good investment.

I asked Lexus Cheltenham if I could defer fitting new plugs, this being part of the 6 year service.  They were not prepared to do this and still give the Relax guarantee even though my car had only done circa 43K and in reality on my small annual mileage these days, the existing plugs would have gone for at least one or more further services before needing replacements.

The plugs in my 2007 IS250 were changed at the 6 year point…..and 22337 miles!!! Do you think old Perfectly good plugs went in the bin?
