Does anyone know if the rx300/rx350 are prone to catalytic converter theft?

I have had it twice unfortunately and don't want it happening again!

Hybrids are typically the targets, so the RX400h. In theory the RX300/350 could be targeted as easily but I've not heard of it happening.

Why is it Japanese cars seem to be easily targeted ?

hybrids are targeted because the petrol engine isn't always in use and therefore the cat should be in better condition for the age of the vehicle, plus the cats used 15 years ago contained more valuable metals. Back then it was only Toyota, Honda and Lexus making hybrids.

so should i avoid buying an old car and a honda, toyota or lexus?

(they make the  best cars so hard to do that!)

If you live in a built up area where your vehicle might be a target then you might want to avoid a hybrid vehicle older than 2015.

In theory any car could be a target but it is the old hybrids that currently are.
