Paint protection cover

Hi all,

has anyone taken out paint protection out from Lexus and if so used the service? Had someone scratched my back bumper leaving a deep scratch that I’m not able to machine polish out and drove off while it was parked in a super market car park.

just want to know what the quality of work is like.

regards

Hi Joel,

I assume you mean Smart Insurance for SMART repairs?  A company called "Shine!" will actually do the work.  I used this a few times on my NX and once or twice my wife's CT (it always amazes me how careless people are opening doors into you) and the quality of the work was mostly very good and very efficient.  However, I did find some variation in quality - some of their technicians were more skilled than others (some of the repairs they have done for me were totally perfect in my eyes but others less so.  The variation was with how well the colour is matched and the repair was blended in.  I once had to get them back to repaint a door mirror that they didn't do very well the first time.

But I would think for a bumper repair this will be totally fine.  The non-perfect blending for me was on a door, where it was more noticeable, but, as I say, I would guess a lower on the vehicle on a bumper will be fine.  Is you CT Sonic Titanium?  It looks like it could be from your photo.  If so, Shine! have two colour matches for that.  I found the slightly darker one was a perfect match and the lighter one less good.

Did you sort out your wifi hotspot issue by the way?

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Joel,

I had Smart Cover on a previous RX450h (purchased from new)  Have to say I wouldn't do it again.  Managed to scratch my bumper and got them out to fix, after a lot of 'teeth sucking' and telling me how difficult Lexus colours are to match they did the repair.  All looked good when they did it, but the next day it looked very blue (it was a white car!)  Next time, I would want to research who I use from recommendations and not be tied into one company.  Yes it perhaps cost a little more, you have no choice who you use if you go with the Lexus Smart repair.  IMHO.

Hi Paul,

thanks for the feedback much appreciated, I have submitted a claim so now waiting for them to get back to me. Yes that’s my colour sonic titanium really love the colour so I hope they get a good match.
I hope the claim is successful and they do a good job.

I tried the blue prothrombin option but my Iphone was not appearing in the list, will give it another go at the weekend and see if it appears and pairs.

regards

Hello Joel

Having a "Sonic Titanium" paint on mine I'll be most interested in how you get along. I know one day in the future mine will almost certainly need some paint repair and it will be useful to have a benchmark.

Normally I use a body shop that has never been phased by exotic colours and even the wonderful Mazda red which I believe is a similar paint process to the titanium. I will however say they know how to charge but when you see the effort they put in then you shouldn't too surprised.

Hopefully my claim gets approved and once the work is done I will let you know

I,d be worried to use these as i have a couple of spots needing attention but i,m thinking Arctic Pearl White would be a problem for paint matching?

I have paid for the 3 years so I may as well use them and if it’s not great will call them up to get it sorted. Still waiting for the claim to be approved

Hi all,

They have done a really good job and I am happy with the work and its guaranteed for life so any issues I just call them back out with the job ref.

Also they mentioned they only work on new and nearly Lexus and Toyota so always carry all the paints so never have any issues with colour matches

Here are some photos let me know what you think?
