Where to obtain discontinued parts - IS300

Hello

I have a 2002 IS300 in almost perfect condition (done just 27K miles) apart from the dashboard. I'm sure many of you will know about the manufacturing fault which caused some dashes to soften, making it easy for them to get marked. Why there was no recall is beyond me (I think there was in the USA)

Anyway, I would like to replace mine so I asked my friendly Lexus dealer and they said that part had now been discontinued and they could not get one from Lexus UK. But if I could find one they would happily fit it as it was a relatively quick job.

So I've been searching around the internet and drawn a blank so far. 

I'm sort of hoping that when Lexus UK decided not to stock IS Series 1 parts any more, they sold them off to some firm somewhere and one of you guys may know who that was??

Or who else might be able to source one? I did think of a breaker but they are not likely to be in good condition now.

I have been looking for quite a few interior parts to tidy up my Sportcross. 

I have seen some very tidy examples of dashboards offered by breakers on eBay. It has been the area around the stock radio that seems to always be scratched. 
 

Quite a few IS being broken up for parts seem to turn up on FB Marketplace too.

Many thanks for replying and the advice. 

I have had a look at eBay in the past but struggled to find anything. I need the whole unit really as the area around the passenger airbag actually went slightly sticky. I believe it is all one piece - it extends across the whole dash and down the centre console, so that's what I'm after.

I am on FB but have never used the marketplace so that's a great tip. Thanks very much indeed.

I look for the cars (any IS) and then contact the breakers to get them to send me pics. It is a long-winded process because the just generally advertise the front of the car - not the interior. 
 

As well as marketplace there are quite a few owner groups on FB and many of the people on there are keeping very tidy examples and are collecting parts. It’s worth a post on the groups to see if anyone has a dash in stock. 
 

Your other option is removal and stripping the gunky stuff off and then respraying. There are a number of videos on YouTube of Americans who done this to an old IS. 
 

Good luck and I would be interested to know how you get on because I keep thinking about a dash replacement for my Sx.

I will certainly let you know how it goes. I did think about the respray option but I'm not sure the finish would be good enough. I spoke to a local spray shop who advised against as well as you need special paint and getting a colour match is very hard indeed.

I think the other suggestions about FB are probably were I'll try. I'll be sure to let you know how I get on.
