Hello all,

New member and owner(as of yesterday), of a 2002 IS200, manual with 79k miles. From Bournemouth

The car has only covered 10k miles since 2014.

Had a brand new clutch fitted last week.

Picked it up from Brighton, drove back to Bournemouth and it drove like a dream. Still getting used to the size of the car, after only ever having hatchbacks 😂

I chose the 200 because of its reliability and most of all its looks. Love the shape of the car. Plus there are tonnes of modifications available for it. Im going to use it as a daily driver doing tasteful modifications, with a view to eventually turbo it.

Hi Jason and welcome to Lexus ownership and the best Lexus forum there is. Yes the is200 is a superb car and most reliable and a good looker. Good of you to post a few pics, always welcome. You really have to look in the gen 1 IS section of the forum. There you'll find lots of posts on modifying servicing etc etc. There are 2 threads in particular. One is a few years old now but we'll worth the read. The other is relatively newish and ongoing and again well worth the read.

Looks like you've got yourself a corker of a car. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll definitely check out those threads. I've looked at a few, made for Interesting reading.

Its in pretty good condition considering its age. Bit of rust appearing on the rear sills, but it's actually not that bad. First thing I'm planning on doing is getting that sorted, to stop it becoming a bigger issue down the line. Seems like it's a pretty common thing for these cars. Hopefully won't be too expensive to repair.
