Instrument Panel switches

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have recently bought an RX400h 2006 model and have noticed that radio/audio control switches and temperature control switches (eg temp setting button, defogger button etc) all heat up.  Its a similar situation with tape and cd compartment.

Is this normal or potentially an issue with my car?

Thank you for your help.

As Piers says, as long as they're not too hot then it's fine.

If they're illuminated then the bulbs will throw out some heat, plus it's a confined space behind there and the electronics will also generate heat.

Maybe the bulbs from long time ago are hotter than some of the new low power LED and if not too difficult to replace that could bring temperature down.

Thank you all for your comments.

I noticed this during an evening journey when illuminated lights were on, so it could well be due to the heat being emitted by the bulbs. I will keep an eye out to see if it differs during day and night.
