Jolt when reversing then brake.

Recommended Posts

Noticed something wierd.

If I put my car in reverse after driving slightly turn to park press the break and I hear a loud thud/clunk noise. I've had my calipers replaced. Just cant think what it is. My car is automatic.

Anyone else have this issue before?

Might be worth checking your pads.  I have read stories of the friction material separating from the back plate.  If they fitted new pads along with the calipers, then may have been faulty

Found what the issue was. The handbrake cable was interfering with the prop shaft. So when I reversed. Sometimes the handbrake with activate, causing a thud sound. The cable was moved out of the way. To provide clearance to the prop shaft. It hasn't made that thud sound/ jolted since. (Fingers crossed)

An update. I changed my pads and rotors, greased guide pins and no more thud in reverse.

My guess is the handbrake shoes were sticking to the inside of the old rotors, since my rear calipers weren't seized.

I had a loose caliper. I had it changed along with the bracket. Bought an original genuine one from eBay. Seems ok so far
