LC500 Fuel efficiency

Had a lovely surprise today when driving from Herts up to more or less Scotland on a tank, got 36mpg and had well over 100 miles range left when I got there, so celebrated by making a bit of noise for the local youth.

I say surprise cos the car is rated at 15/24/19 for city/highway/overall so I was expecting a hefty fuel bill for the trip but nope.

I was driving it gently in a variety of eco/normal/sport modes and only had a few noisy hoons, but the point is it can be relatively parsimonious and also that it’s an excellent mile muncher.

I have said many times how efficient the V8 can be if treated with respect but without needing to dawdle around.

My best is 40 mpg over a route to Essex I use very frequently which totals 315 miles of very mixed roads.
I have never used Eco mode.

certainly the modern V8s seem to produce more eco-friendly mpg than the golden oldies .....  the old Ls400 I have anyway 

Just filled up with E5 and over a simple but usual pottering around 112.5 miles this past week or so I seem to have achieved 24.75 mpg ( not in the eco mode tho' )

I think she has achieved 30 mpg on a good run, loaded with passengers, luggage etc and on the Motorways at 70mph (' ish  ) maybe a couple of hundred miles straight run ...in the distant past

40 mpg seems just BRILLIANT 

maybe I should do my bit for the planet and get myself a more eco-friendly V8 too
