Adding Rcas To Is200 Stock Amp

Recommended Posts

I've just been checking out mats RCA output article agian, i've got a few questions.

Why wont this work on Sat Nav models? I have been on IS300.net and they seem to using them fine

How do I get to the amp? Do I have to take the Glove box out? is it fairly easy to do?

Is the amp just connected with pin connectors?

Can I not solder on a Hi-Level to Phono Converter (Halfords) instead of drilling the RCA jack on?

Is there powerpoint on the amp that I can use as remote on/off?

Once RCA jacks are fitted on the RL RR, will this affect the performance of the 6 x 9s?

Are the attached diagrams anygood?

any other advice would be much appreciated.

The diagram shows a hard wired system.

Using the Mod on the Knowledgebase it is for ALL Is200 models ( I assumed only for NON NAV model as I found mine was different) .

However ..........

They did change the internal PCB which I have found on my NAV model and also TheDon's NON NAV model.

Which means the wiring is different where to get the RCA feeds of the PCB.

Will test and forward diagrams onto knowledgebase after the weekend.

Hope this helps ..

Cheers steve,

May be its because our PCBs are pre 2001?

It cant be any more difficult then the knowledge base model can it?

Also i've noticed on another diagram, the SWR and SWL (subwoofer) do these exist?

But more importantly, how do i get the amp of the car?

remove 2 glove box pins and take glove box out.

un-do 10mm bolt on top of amp bracket

un-do black 10mm bolt behind bottom left of golve box (seen when glove box has been removed.

un-do 10mm bolt holding the underside of dash to car which will allow more space if you pull the dash forward a tad.

The hardest part is to get the monster harness which has cable tie clips onto amp chassis off!

Un-plug the 2 amp plugs before removing, this will make it easier.

That's it.

Remember I did one at the Blue water meet, I think it took 25/30 mins start to finish.

Thank you very much young man.

Was that 30 mins just to get it out? or add the RCAs in? ;) (probably take me 2 hours or so  )

Where did you get the RCAs from? Will the Halfords hi level to phono converter be fine?

I'll wait until you have done the diagram at the weekend... i think.

Just to make sure, the amp is the stange metal box with cooling bits located on the far left side of the glove box?

Now to get a cheap soldering Iron :whistling:

UPDATE

Halfords no longer stock hi-level to RCA outs

They said it wasnt worth 400 stores stock them and only selling a couple :duh:

And now they mail order them. which takes 3-5 days...

So whats Raz do, make my own course (all gold plated) from bits I had lying around. Cant wait to solder these on (after I manage to get the amp out).

Anyways, no one has answered my question on the remote lead.. what should connect this too (somewhere on the amp would be nice)?

and spec wire should I use?

A trip to maplins for me 2mro morning ;)
