What’s a good insurance quote looking like this year

Hi

quite difficult I know as it all depends on many factors

I am closer to 50 than 40, off street parking, full no claims, driving for over 25 years, less than 8k miles a year

new quotes this year are around £500, fully comp

anybody else of similar description getting anything better

reason I’m asking is my 5yr old XF, 10 groups higher was the same price last year, so I was hoping for at least 10% better

Not just quite difficult but darn near impossible.

I'm 64, full NCB, one SP30 speeding ticket, driveway parking, driving for 47 years, 10k miles/year, black & white chequered underpants, yellow & black striped socks, green eyes and this year's premium, paid in full last month, was £485 or thereabouts, which was about £30 less than last year for my 2018 RX450h Luxury.

Interesting, so I’m not far off, and I know everything in the world has gone up by at least 10% this year anyway

My initial renewal quote this year came down by about £30 (£490 to £460). That was for a renewal with Aviva at the start of March.

My renewal is £350 Fully Comp, protected 20years NCB, 60 years old, overnight in garage, 8,000 mile a year.

I have been on comparison sites & had a quote for £250 with the AA, similar excess & courtesy car.

my Saga insurance was same as last year on this 3 year thingy thing ! BUT they couldn't give me my Morrisons £20 voucher under the new rules ........  so they gave me a £25 discount .  I'm happy'ish

Ls400 £259.79 after discount and 5k miles this year ( again sadly )  street parking ...... My age , lots  72 and fully protected NCD and that's after my whack with that darned Porsche that flew at me a couple of years back .........  zero damage to mine that wasn't sorted by my indy with his toes pushing out the zap in the back door ....  but the Porsche cost Saga @£4500 to sort out .....  oh and my dearly beloved Ls400 is now CatN

Nevermind tho' eh !

Just used the comparison sites.

CT down from £400 to £300 (now with John Lewis)

Starlet down from £200 to £150 (stayed with Churchill).

Happy with both. Tend to change every other year as I finds quotes start going up at this renewal point.

Looks like I am still too young to get a good deal 🤪

I forgot to mention I also put work use on as well for the once a month I might visit a client. The type of work you do also adds to your premium

but more than compensated for by the amazingly generous 45p per mile allowance no doubt :whistling:

You guys make me think the insurance doesn't get much better with age 🤣 I'm 26, 10,000 miles / year, all modifications fully declared, my insurance as of January 2022 is £435/year, fully comp, £350 excess, protected NCB (that cost me £25 extra!).

The answer is the cheapest one provided its by some kind of insurance company you've heard of 😉

On a side note I think insurance probably goes down after 30-35. My son is also 26 and his insurance has been consistently going up year on year. He pays £1200 on the C200 albeit remapped to 250hp although he was only paying £800 on the Jag XE-S.

He managed to get 6 points recently for blasting through a dual carriageway at almost 80mph (Had just stepped down to 40mph and got caught by a mobile camera) and that barely made any difference to the insurance - went up by £50!

That's a lot of money.. even my GT86 (classed as a sports car) at the age of 22 wasn't as high as £1200.. Since 21, I've been with Adrian Flux, GreenLight and now Brentacre - they're all modified specialists.

Not a bad price but what cost would it be with zero excess. I can get that

Just goes to prove what I said earlier - no rhyme or reason to it at all.

I was caught doing 44 in a 30, given £100 fine and 3 points, and that put my insurance up by £120 per year until the points drop off!!

Unfortunately not any more, I used to get a car allowance and 25p in my last job, but I was doing lots and lots of miles in my XF. I now work for a social enterprise selling a software product so 99% of my time is on Zoom calls now

As mentioned before job makes a big difference

I remember an old top gear episode where they all had to be new drivers on their mums cars (I think) they lied about their age, s*x and jobs to get massively reduced insurance quote

sales and sports people get an increased premium.

Also taking a leaf out of Martin Lewis book. Always get your quotes and deals 30+ days before the old one runs out. Leaving it until a few days before shows you to be a higher risk person in the algorithm  in general and the premium will be higher

I know I'm not in the right Club, sorry, but my point is relevant for any car. 🙂

ALWAYS query your annual renewal. Last year I paid £307.17. This year's quoted renewal was £351.48. Via Go Compare same Company quoted me £254.95. Of course I complained. Settled on £253.75 for this year - a saving of £97.73 (27.8%) against renewing without query. 😐

Although I gather new legislation is now supposed to prevent such variation. Believe that when you see it! 😉

So they're still at it. I figured they'd find some loophole, and looks like they have. They just probably dropped the "introductory" moniker and continue to operate in the same crap way they always have.

My 2007 IS250 with airfilter, full exhaust, spliters, rearwing and diffuser all declared (I don't have those mods yet but just incase I do add them later it avoids the £30 admin cost each time) costs me £470 a year fully comp with Admiral.

I'm 35, 6 years no claims and 6k miles a year (I adjust this if I go over on their app costs like £9 to increase to 8k)

I'm in the westmidlands but the price is starting to increase due to the many phone calls about insignificant crime like "Bunch of kids hanging around the park" which bumps up the "crime rate reports" in my area. Atleast that's what my previous insurance company explained to me. As the crime rate or reports go up so does the risk and premiums.

This year Saga Insce have advised there will be zero Admin charges for amendments mid-term
