V LAND HEADLIGHTS

Recommended Posts

Hi Stephen, I had the same predicament on this before I purchased my own VLAND headlights.

On a very technical basis it will not pass an MOT due to the DRL being run at a fixed current and not dimming down when the headlights are turned on. However, it does very much depend on the garage you take it to as they can take a pragmatic or laid back approach and not fail it for this reason. I have my MOT due in September so I can only let you know if it passes then. The garage I take my car to is a Lexus specialist and while Lexus and previous MOT's advised I had corrosion or grease on my brake pipes, he advised this wasn't an issue and was common with high mileage vehicles so fingers crossed he doesnt have an issue with my VLANDS!

The legal way around this is to wire up the DRL to a different fuse or a relay and this would allow them to shut off when the low beams are turned on. This video linked below is a good example.

Thanks for your reply and advice guys. I will probably wait until Mcshmoopy’s MOT on Sept and I will take it from there🙂

I've had mine for a year now. Passed MOT without any issues at all. Don't worry about it. The way these plug in to the fuse box to get DRLs working is so easy that if you were stressed about the garage failing you you can just unplug it and the lights will work as normal minus DRLs.. I have never heard of anyone failing MOT with these and I personally know 2 people with them. People worry too much!

Apologies mate someone else was having this same predicament and realised I never got back to you! My garage passed it without issue with no mention of the VLAND headlights. Hopefully you managed to sort this one way or the other

Hi all - just wondering about reliability of the Vlands - I love the look, but have seen some comments about DRL LED failures, condensation inside and flickering?

Cheers

Steve

Hard to say, but 3 years and 50,000 miles later still fine.

Same here, my car came with the Vlands installed by the previous & I purchased it 3 years ago. So at least 3 years of use and no issues whatsoever.

Do you live around Tipton by any chance? Think I saw your car there before 😄
