Hybrid stopped working, put lever toP

Hello, I’ve just joined and needed some help. I’ve just purchased an IS300H (2013 model) with approximately 46k miles from an independent car seller company. The car doesn’t cold start and a few times I got a ‘hybrid system not working and shift lever to P’ when it is already in P. Has anyone suffered this and is there a permanent fix? Any help and advice appreciated.

Thanks Paul. Shall I take back to seller and also would this be covered by Lexus? They say their cars are warranted for 10 years or 100k(whichever is 1st).

I am not sure if it will be covered under the 10 year warranty as it is probably classed as a wear and tear item, and the ten year warranty is conditional on having it serviced at Lexus.

It may be worth taking it back to where you got it and see if they will fit a new Battery, but be careful on what they fit as they are not standard 12V batteries, e.g. I don't think you can get them in Halfords for example. It may be best to get one direct from Lexus.

Niraj, I would advise you not to do anything to the car.

Take it back to the Seller and ask him to fix all of the problems you have.

The car is not under a Lexus Warranty and your complaint is against the Dealer from whom you bought the car.

If the Seller does not know how to fix the problems tell him to take it to Lexus and they will tell him.

Under Government Legislation the Dealer is responsible for correcting anything that goes wrong with the car in the first 6 months of your ownership.

Thanks Royoftherovers for your advice. FYI - the seller is not a main dealer but an independent car sales company. Am I still covered under the same Legislation?

Hi All, me again and sorry for all the questions. Does anyone know the correct 12v Battery that I require as the dealer is having trouble locating one. I want to provide them with the details so they can find and order correctly.

Your local Lexus Dealer will tell you or the Dealer.
