Hello. I am considering getting into a Lexus for the first time. Primary reason is striking looks, famed reliability and good mpg. I am based in Cumbria. I would like to know your thoughts about few things -

1. all car reviewers trash the acceleration. I am no junior Lewis Hamilton though I don’t wish to get into one if the car struggles all the time

2. I have never had a car with wood trim on steering. Is this a bother ?

3. What kind of mpg does the ES give. I know depends on driver and city vs highway. Just a rough estimate. Is it as good as Lexus claims

4. I am going for ES with premium pack. As I live up north I am going to get all season tyres. Anyone done this ? And if yes which ones are good. 
 

5. Finally can you all kindly adv a good dealer. The local dealer in Carlisle is not the best. Obviously I am looking for best possible deal on PCP. 
 

currently having a Mercedes E Class 350d. Plan is ES 300 h with premium pack. Blue with cream interior. Black inside trim.

You will be making a good choice, I came to Lexus after BMW and Mercedes, no regrets 

1 yes a hybrid does drive a bit differently, in my view, to a “traditional” auto but the reviews which are critical are way out. I have an ES which is gen 4 in terms of the hybrid system (I previously had an IS which is gen 3) and it is great, more than enough acceleration from a standing start, it has never ever not had enough power, it is so smooth, linear and understated.

2 I have Takumi trim and love the wood trim on the steering wheel, little bit different 

3 I get around 53mpg overall, 60 is easily attainable on the right kind of trip, it does drop slightly in winter

4 don’t know

5 I have used 2 dealers since going with Lexus, Stoke who were great and Leicester who weren’t, nothing to do with the car

A test drive is the only way really, regarding rear leg room I don’t think you will be disappointed, it really is roomy.

My 2022 ES has...

More power than I ever need.

My average since new is showing 43mpg, well over 60mpg on motorway runs and 30mpg nipping to Asda.

Pay attention to the rather poor turning circle when you take one for a test drive, with it being so long it's not easy getting out of tight spaces in a multi-story car park.

Other than a few other very very slight niggles I love it. I moved from Jags and Audi.

With regards to tyres, you will find that a lot of people on this Lexus forum love the Michelin Cross Climates. Feedback on these has been consistent, whatever Lexus model you drive.

I did the cross climate swap at delivery with Lexus Preston. Nearly 10k miles now, quiet, good handling, excellent MPG (seen 60+ as well). Haven't dropped below 49MPG (worse I got in freezing cold with seat heaters).

Acceleration is of the no drama type, but not lacking, just different to what people are used to with traditional autos. Off the line (electric torque) is surprising for a car of its size/weight.

Overall, it's an easy relaxed drive.

I have done over 10k in mine and the mpg is impressive and consistent. When I had a test drive my big question was would it be like driving my IS, I didn’t want to pay a large amount of money for practically the same car with more features (IS Advance to ES Takumi), to me it really felt a step up and still does

Interesting. Talks about up to 57 mpg reported by users which reflects comments on here. Not bad for a 2.5L petrol engine. That enough to be impressed I think.

I`d have had it, had I been in the market for another car. I intend to keep my GS450h until 2025 when its final extended warranty will have been exhausted.Current mileage is 62,000.

Re: Lexus Carlisle,   ask for Derek Fulton.  I lived in Leeds over 110 miles away when I bought my first Lexus off him, a Lexus LS460 in 2015.   Went back to buy my first ES from Derek, a brilliant salesman.  Takes a personal  interest in his customers.  Can't speak for any other sales person  at the dealership but  the service dept staff  were all really professional and gave great service in terms of sales and service.
