UX250H with towbar – how to remove the undercover to tighten bolts

Recommended Posts

I have a Lexus’ UX 250H with a towbar (Brink) for my bike rack.  The towbar manufacturer instructions state one needs to tighten up the bolts after 1000KM of towbar use.  I am about to reach that and want to know if anybody knows or has instructions as to how to remove the plastic undercover at the rear to get to the bolts of the towbar.

Thanks folks.

Must be at least a couple of hours work.

Lexus UK were charging £150 an hour for Labour in 2020, so must be more now. Maybe an independent garage would charge a lot less.

I have the same Lexus  (Brinks) towbar fitted as a factory fit, for a bike rack. I certainly will not have my bolts checked at that exorbitant cost. I’ll just trust that the excellent Lexus technician’s fit the towbar properly and tightened the bolts to the required torque setting.

I have in the past had to remove towbars from vehicles and always found the bolts extremely tight and rusty and very difficult to remove.

Mine was done by the Lexus dealer before i took delivery, and I was not impressed by the 'service' I got up to now.  So not sure if they did or not. I too had the same thought as to not check because of cost and I too have removed tow-bars in the past with great effort.
