doing a quick service on the girlfriends car today (ford fiesta 1.25 zetec S) new air filter, sparks etc.. When I removed the spark plugs, one of them was covered in oil. Is this normal or is there something wrong with the engine?

Cheers

Jim

was it the tip of the plug or the threads that were covered in oil??? the tips of the plug should be a light tan colour indicating optimal combustion.

if all the other plugs were fine then there is something wrong - but this could be something simple as a loose connection - does it still have leads? or is it a coil pack? would check the gaps and then heck all connections for the plugs, go for a run 10/15 mins then check the plugs again.

cheers for your answers. fluff - its still on leads. all the plugs were old and covered in carbon but just the end one was completely covered in oil, tread and all. have put new plugs in and have dropped it off for its mot. will ask my mechanic to check it out for me tonight
