Engine Rattle At Low Revs

Recommended Posts

I have had a slight rattle at low revs for some time now so today i went down to my local mechanic and he said that it sounds like a slightly loose timing chain or a worn runner for the chain.

does the IS200 have a timing chain or if not is there anyway of getting hold of a haynes like manual for the car to try and pin point what the problem is.

Hmmmm... timing chain ??

Suggest you find another mechanic

IS200 doesn't have one - has a rubber belt instead.

Could maybe be something in a related tensioner / pulley though.

I have checked the heat shields around the exhaust and there dosnt seem to be a problem, i have my money on it being the tensioner bearing, is this a comon problem on the IS200 at around 55k or am i looking for something else.

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks
