Hi everyone!! this is my first visit here...must say Damm good site!!

Heres the question: I have 2002 pipe trim IS200 and thinking of getting it chipped As many words of wisdom would be very helpfull!!

While Iam here Tyres and Alignment..Is it just me??? I carnt seem to keep the thing tracked...I NEVER clip kerbs and lay my coat on the road to go over sleeping bobbies, and avoid pot holes like a dose of clap. :tsktsk:

The standard OEM tyres are Bridgestone Potenzas...problem is very soft therfore no mileage any other suggestions for tyres?

Again ACE SITE!!!!!

well as Dob said your best option is a supercharger, that will take you over 200bhp, but will cost in the region of £3000...

If that is a bit pricey, I would reccomend getting a performance exhaust, induction kit and/or piggy back ECU..

For the zorst, Have a read here, your looking at between £200 and £400, but although it will only add in the region of 5bhp, it will free up the engine much more, so it will feel more lively.

For an induction kit, your probably looking in the region of £300, and will again loosen up the engine even more, but they are a little hard to come by,TDi sell them.

As for the piggy back ECU, prices vary, but you need to consider it will need setting up on a rolling road, so expect to pay in the region of £500.

The route I personally took (and can reccomend), is a combination of HKS Hiper Exhaust, which sounds lovely, and does make the car feel quicker, and a set of Eibach lowering springs, which improve the looks, and handling of my IS substantially! And both these mods (inc fitting) come in at a reasonable £550..

welcome..

from past experiance with my 200, a chip alone will not be of any great benefit. Only when used in conjunction with an induction kit, exhaust upgrade will you see a real benifit. example the unichip i had, by itself will only release 5bhp, but after having the hks drager II rear box, and induction kit with air scoop did i see approx 15bhp.

that would be first port of call if your not going to supercharge it..

Hmmm... i'd have thought you might get 15hp even without the unichip.

Seem to remember TDi noting unichip gave potential of improved gas mileage

:offtopic: but can an admin please Change Tonys member title to 'Club cynic' please...

And the PiggyBack ECU should make the most of any mods you make (such as an exhaust and/or induction)

Hang on a min...

This time i was being deadly serious (rare event i know)...

Drager + TDi intake can't be far off 15hp gain can it ??

And hopefully Mark will pop in and confirm the 'better gas mileage with Unichip' bit

Honest.. i AM being serious here :crybaby:

But generally... yes... club cynic would seem a glove like fit :shifty:

Ahhh, Fair point Mr Goose...

Well, theortically, yes an induction/exhaust combo would yeild 15bhp, but in the real world, you probably wouldnt see that...

What the UniChip would do, would be to map the engine to take full advantage of both these mods, and release their full potential (so to speak)..

I thought that with all chips you could map em both ways, powerwise or economy wise. Just saying what I heard :)
