Parking Sensors On An Is200se

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if it is possible to add parking sensors to a 51 Reg 2001 IS200SE Auto, and how much it would cost?

Cheers

Phil

You can get some really good quality aftermarket ones...

Fitting will vary from place to place...

Average £200 fitted thereabouts..

If you want to do it yourself... then probally get a kit cheap or check out the links on the forum.

Any one else think they ruin the lines of the back bumper? (As in they look cr*p)

Yes they do, so get a microwave type one that fits behind the bumper.

So you can get one that sits behind the bumper and you don't have to have the 9 Hole golf course on your back bumper?

Yes you can get the microwave / electro-magnetic type which either have a foil aerial that fits behind the bumper or uses the metal bumper bar as the aerial.

The only one I can find is here:

http://www.parkingsensors.co.uk/taurus.htm

It hasa foil aerial - you really need one that will use the bumper bar. Rodders has one fitted to his GS.

They have some drawbacks - can be affected by rain and don't detect objects unless the vehicle is moving, but look much better than ultrasonic sensors.

You could blend them in by painting them, but just give a dusting over the actual pick up of the sensor.

I have a two sensor system on my IS ( Lexus/Toyota fit item ), being a blue car the sensors don't stand out that much, but could look a bit of a pimple on a white or silver model ;) .
