Question About Tiptronic Transmission

Can anyone tell me about the tiptronic changing of gears. If I select to shift up using the controls on steering wheel will the transmission voeride if I let the car go into the red or will it not restrict me and let me change up when I want to, is it one of those systems where it works out quicker just flooring it in fully auto mode?

well if you use the tiptronic and say leave it in 3 then the car will redline if you do not change up. you can still pull off as normal even when its in 3rd.

i have found that it is quicker using tiptronic to shift down two gears.

Sounds excellent, just what I wanted.

Are the tiptronic controls on steering wheel the only way of changing gear or can you shift the gear stick intoa slot and use that to change gear?

Just on the steering wheel Nick, unless you have it in full automatic mode...
