Crikey if it needs an exhaust already it must have done either very low mileage causing it to rot from the inside out or ultra-high mileage to wear out, most Lexus ones seem to last almost forever. A chap we know only got round to having his changed in his MKIII-400 at 280k.

Rodders,

How many miles did your exhaust last before it needed replacement?

Mike

I'm still on the original system at 170K, but I've been told that some of the joints are starting to rot and it may need replacing soon (Gonna wait until it falls on the floor at that price though  ).

You should get 200k miles at least out of the exhaust unless you damage it. The joints will be the first to go although they always look worse than they are.

If you ask some dealers they have never replaced an exhaust on any Lexus model unless they have been damaged by speed bumps etc.

Hey,

Thanks guys, thats encouraging to see that you can get so many miles out of it. I have the chance to purchase a 99 (t) lexus gs300se, 63k miles for 9K maybe just under, the car is in mint condition and is owned by a relative. Whats your opinions on this deal?

Regards

How fast is this car ??
