Tte Supercharger

I'm fairly new to modding the IS, but I'm getting there slowly!

I am possibly considering the TTE SC for my IS200. I can get a new one for a good price but I'm just wondering what happens as regards to installation? I'd assume that Lexus dealers fit them but I don't really want to pay their labour charges.

Few questions:

Could a competent mechanic do the fitting?

Does it come with fitting instructions?

Do any other bits/pieces need to be purchased to make it work?

Is a rolling road needed to set it up properly on the car?

How long would installation take?

Could it be removed and transfered to another car in the future?

Anything else to be aware off?

I know quite a few people here have it on their cars so what sort if difference will I find whilst driving?

Thanks,

Gavin :)

Haven't actually driven a car with one on (mine is being fitted as we speak) but have been in Chris Shipley's car which has one and the car just felt so much more responsive - there is just loads more power on tap.

1) Yep, Billy did his own, and I think SteveAudioX & Fever both did their own. I struggle with the basics so someone is fitting mine for me!

2) Mine was an early revision kit so I ordered the newer revision bypass spring from TTE for about £3 + postage. I've also got the older ECU that doesn't limit revs at 6,200rpm so I need to get the precats gutted soon before they fail (as the petrol is cut of at 6,250 which causes precats to fail - they go anyway - in fact does anyone know if you'll be okay as long as you don't bounce it off the limiter???)

3) Don't think so? From a load of the posts on here the rolling road is needed if you have a Unichip fitted, or the Racelogic Traction Control Launch stuff needs configuring.

4) Yep, there are a couple of SC's on here that traded hands, think from an old post I read you just have to cut some plastic trim or something to make it fit so that would leave remnants of something being there if you didn't swap them (don't know if they're a straight swap though!)

You'll be fine pal - I ran my charger for about 40k before getting the manifold chnged at TTE earlier this year.... Give me a call next week - may be able to sort something out regarding your pre-cats.... ;)

Fantastic stuff mate, I'll give you a call next week, I've spoken to a few local specialists and they're a bit wary of doing them in case they fail, and I need the car for work so I'm struggling to get it in somewhere like TDI.

P.S. Clipboard is mega :P

fitting is a doddle really, me and steve removed my old one from my old IS200 and i fitted it to fevers car...along with his assistance in making the tea for me and pete (scorpion) who also lent me a hand..

fitting took about 5-6 hours or so. and the car can remain drivable till the last moment so dont worry abotu finishing it in a day.. the kit comes with full instrutions, only bit of extra work needed is cutting a hole in the manifold cover for the s/c moutning frame.

you may also have to bend one of the tubes that runs to the intercooler as its very tight.

rolling road would only be needed if you have some chip fitted then you cna have the engine remapped to take advantage of the s/c

as for perfomance,, well its like another car, but for comparison, the extra BHP will bring the IS200 upto the same spec as an IS300.

Meant to ask GRiM (as he is in N. Ireland) about his but haven't seen him around lately, anyone know where he is
