Bobski was an absolute star and checked my brakes for me a little while ago as I thought they needed replacing (screeching). The upshot was that I still have loads of mileage to get out of them but they are driving me insane screeching all the time - they sound as though they're down to the screech pins.

It's worse in warm weatherb and there's no wheel wobble - any ideas? I'd appreciate any advice...

I put a little copper grease on the plates, just in case.

Only thing i did notice was that wishbone (just cant think of th bloody name of it) shaped spring that clips into a little hole on each pad was missing on the NS.

I am also pretty sure the disks arnt warped.

Claire, if it really is still driving you nuts, bring it over again, we'll go for a spin, and if you like ill change the brakes regardless.

Just the bog-standard ones from Lexus...

Could it be anything to do with the brake dust? I've never had a car so bad for brake dust everywhere!

Bob, you are indeed a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks, I may take you up on that if it doesn't improve.

Not sure if it's the same problem or not but my old MR2 used to have the odd squeal every now and then (when both the brake pads and discs were fine). I took it into a local cheapy repair place and they just said it was brake dust build up. They cleaned out the calipers (for free which was very nice of them) and I never had the problem again.

The calipers were taken off when i checked them, so not much dust, unless it was better for a while Claire?

Is there any noted difference when braking v gently or harder?
