Might be an idea to get the self employed IT bods here to identify themselves and leverage this forum to help each other out

I am currently doing a contract at Royal Bank of Scotland. Sybase/Oracle/Unix/Perl/Informatica

I was a contractor a few years ago. The whole IR35 thing scared me off though (and I got sick of having to deal with the Inland Revenue all the time!).

I keep wondering about going back into contracting but jobs seem to be a bit thin on the ground these days.

Just what Gordon Brown wants to you to. The market is quite good these days. Perhaps its time to have a snoop around again??

Im not in IT, but I am self employed. Hats off to anyone who has a go for themselves. Ive been doing what I do for 2 years now, got 30 people working for me, we do work in Europe, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia & Borneo and India. Not too bad, it just takes a bit of focus, and the ability to keep the revenue happy. This years good, We just won an award in the Small Business Awards 2004, gotta wear a dicky bow and go for a champagne dinner with a few MPs and stuff, we go on telly aswell (Look North) Its a dirty job, but someones gotta do it........................

Best of luck to anyone thinking of going it alone, the only people to get rich, are the people YOU work for!
