Japanese Dvd Car Stereo

Recommended Posts

I have just purchased a very nice Altezza AS200 which has a rather flash looking stereo system, with CD, minidisc and DVD. I havn't actually got my hands on the car yet, but I assume the stereo will be in japanese. From the pictures I have it looks like the model number is NMCT-D50. Is it possible to change the language on these stereos or am I going to have to learn japanese?

Thanks

It is a combination of TV, DVD, Radio, MiniDisc and CD.

There are several things I would like to do to get full functionality

1. I need to get the TV working with UK PAL transmissions rather than NTSC

2. The DVD unlocked from the Japanese Region code.

3. The radio frequency range to be compatable with the UK frequency ranges.

4. Change it to English so I know what all the buttons do (I keep getting lost in the menus).

Alternatively it may be easyer for me to move to japan ;)

The Nav system needs a software upgrade.. So far disc is unobtainable to change to UK menu system and very different.

The TV system we use here is PAL I. The Altezza system will not function here, although some owners were able to tune in 1 channel but not too clearly.

The radio frequency can be done, with a wave expander, but there are some poor quality ones out there, even the best ones don't give you every UK channel.

i have the same problem. there isnt anything you can do. i approched lexus and they informed me that the full car would need to be ripped out and be replaced i was looking about 4 grand.

the only thing u can do is get the wave expander buy a new dvd player as the one in the altezza is very jumpy.

good luck and let us know how you get on

Oh well, I expected as much. I guess I'll just have to make do with the CD and Minidisc. At least it makes the dash look cool. I've had the car for a day now and I have to say I LOVE IT. It is a dream to drive, very responsive and positive feeling on corners. It takes a bit of getting used to the 6 cylinder engine sounds and the 6 speed box ratios, but it is just feels so well made.

Hi, all. Excuse for mine English.

I read your polemic about TV and NAVY and I can offer the adapter for Japanese car.

Absolute TVR-05.

It is the converter from PAL in NTSC and AV the commutator with a possibility of hooking up of the camera of a back aspect and other exterior sources audio, video signals.

If it is interesting, write to me on the address vitalmik@ngs(blocked word) or ICQ 84597789

By the way, now we make alternative of the adapter for UK with a system PAL I ;)

I had the same problem with my '02 Windom. It had the original Sat Nav touch screen monitor. The easiest way was for me to change the whole system to a new Double din headunit which was a 6.5"LCD / Multi region dvd player which just slotted in. The unit including labour cost me 400 quid. Was cheaper than for me to use the original headunit, modify it so it could receive PAL and buy a DVD changer to put in the boot.
