Windows Remote Close

Recommended Posts

Hello there yet again,

It's been about a month since ownership of my GS300h and I absolutely love it. Brake hold has saved so much pain from holding the brake, the amazing LED lamps are great, and the mpg is very impressive. (43-45 MPG average) which has boosted my average miles on a tank up to 530 miles compared to my RX450h 420 Miles. Meaning i can drive more. However, one annoying part that the GS seems to lack is to remotely close the windows from the fob. Every single time i try to close the windows remotely i get reminded the fact that I can't. Yet my RX450h previously could. The year gap between both is four years, surely that the newer technology given four years later truly doesn't affect the key-fob.

So, I wonder if perhaps there some programmable setting that I can turn on as sometimes it's truly annoying to remember the fact I can't even close my darn windows.

Thank you.

I am not sure you can program that on 3th Gen GS300h, but it is 100% programable via Techsteam on older model... you can choose what happens when you hold the key pressed, I believe the options are:

- do nothing

- close/open all windows only

- close/open all windows .inc sunroof

- close/open sunroof only

I would be really surprised if Lexus removed this feature, although going for 4th gen GS they replaced key fob with much cheaper looking and feeling part, so maybe they cut that feature.

Short answer - you need ot connect it to Techstream and check if it can be programmed on your car.

  • 2 months later...

To cut a 4-1/2 year long story of Lexus miserably trying to rectify a simple job of Programming the new Lexus Key which they ordered because I had lost my spare.

Because they ordered the new key, they said that they would programme it for me from the original key. They assured me that it will only take an hour when really I could of programmed it myself manually taking 10-15 minutes.

I was proud of the fact that I could open/close all windows and sunroof together as well as the normal boot which I demonstrated. Lexus have wiped the original back in 2020 and have been trying to put it right since, now I can only start the engine and lock/unlock doors.  The spare new key doesn't do anything at all saying they can't work it out.

BUT, if you put the key in the door and hold the key to unlock, Hey presto.....the windows & sunroof open and vice versa as it says in the handbook. So, the door is still talking to the ECU having it retained in it's memory banks.

Lexus have tried fobbing me off with all sorts of excuses and now trying to wipe their hands of it,......like they did with the key!!

Do any of you guys have any idea's or shine a very bright light on this issue, It would be very much appreciated.
