P2799 - Auxiliary Oil Pump Control Circuit High Fix

Recommended Posts

I have a GS450H and about 3 months ago it cut off whilst driving and presented a hybrid system warning. Was able to drive but without electric assistance.

Looked around but found little info on this code, so assumed it would be an issue with either the auxiliary oil pump or controller.

Took the pump off and replaced both bearings which was not too bad and the controller. Then got code P2797 (pump performance)

Decided to look at the harness and clean the connectors and noticed something up with the 3 pin connector going to the controller module.

I noticed two of the metal inserts where set further back which would not make contact with the module. I pushed the harness cable to bring them back up to the top.

Then after starting the car the engine did not start and it was operating as before (Had to clear code and then stayed off on starting again)

Though it was worth posting encase anyone else has this code. I never needed to change the bearings or module but its probably worth doing anyway as its almost at 202k miles.

Hi Jono and welcome to the LOC.

Great diagnostics on the connector, I wonder how many more out there don’t have the pins located correctly.

Thanks for posting it up, brilliant first post😀
Can’t believe it was 17 odd years ago when I attended the GS450h launch at Lexus Derby.

It looks to me that they should all be sunk in, with the plastic tab holding the connector in place so it doesn't get pulled out when you remove the plug. It would depend on the pin length on the other end though.
