replacement headlight bulbs...

hi,

one of the headlight bulbs on my '91 ls 400 has popped so i'd like to replace all of them (to be on the safe side) however i'd also like a bit more 'oomph' to the intensity of the light produced. has anyone got a suggestion as to what to replace them with? the funky coloured bulbs are out as they are actually dimmer as well as being illegal

a slight over wattage is ok but huge wattages that will melt the car in front;s bumper and blind drivers in the next county are also a no-no..

also what type of bulbs are standard?

Another good alternative are Phillips bulbs - a lot of us have the blue vision which are 30% brighter than standard but with a whiter light (like HID)... Good luck mate... :tumble:

you might want to go with a real hid conversion kit. it is relatively simple to install and costs about $300, or check eBay and they pop up for $100 every so often.

There should be a GB coming soon on HID conversion kit's I'm waiting on the costings and informat6ion now :D

If you want a brighter beam, then HID kit is probably the way to go. They should use less current so you shouldn't have to worry there.

If you do go this route stick to the 4100K bulbs. HID is capable of precise beam patterns and you should see a sharp cut-off with natural sunlight-like illumination.

Higher colour temperature bulbs which go into the blue not only diffuse more ruining the pattern and blinding oncoming traffic, but also cause eye fatigue as they burn into the retina more (as will the oncoming driver's main beams).
