Black Cars Accident Prone

Recommended Posts

BLACK cars are more likely to be involved in crashes than any other, a survey shows.

But it is not a problem with the colour — just the personalities of the people who choose it.

Insurers Churchill found that drivers picking black often have aggressive streaks.

The company analysed 130,000 accident claims. They found that the highest proportion involved black vehicles.

Silver was the second most likely colour to crash. Cream-coloured cars were in the fewest accidents.

Psychologist Donna Dawson said: “We think about colour all the time, from what we wear to how we feel. This emotional influence transfers to how we drive.”

Here is the full crash chart:

1. BLACK — an aggressive personality, an outsider or rebel.

DRIVEN BY: David Beckham and Batman.

2. SILVER — cool and aloof.

DRIVEN BY: Rap idol 50 Cent.

3. GREEN — drivers are prone to have hysterical tendencies.

DRIVEN BY: Mr Bean.

4. YELLOW — idealistic, novelty lovers.

5. BLUE — introspective, cautious types.

B) But seriously!

A major factor has to be that you can't SEE dark cars in a lot of situations. (Such as dappled shade etc. ) MY car is dark grey. I often 'do a volvo' and drive with lights on, because while MY reactions may be quick (?) I don't trust others and want to be SEEN not hit!

So white and red should be good in this respect (and Yellow! But let's not go TOO mad!)

All this personality/colour connection? I bought my grey car 'cos it had low mileage and I got to trade my LHD BMW850! Didn'y much care for the colour at first. But no copper ever notices itso.........
