Removing Is200 Sport Oem Rear Spolier

Recommended Posts

I would like to remove the OEM style spoiler from my (early 2001) IS200 Sport and replace it with the one with the clear brake light as fitted to the newer Sports.

I'm gonna go for the autocosmeticsuk one (see here) on eBay at the moment and ordered it painted. I was then going to try and attempt the whole operation myself without having to get a bodyshop involved.

Is it hard to remove without damaging the boot lid? Has anyone removed theirs sucessfully without damaging to the boot lid? Any tips for safe removal? Not too bothered about saving the spoiler but would like to if I could ;)

Secondly, would the eBay spoiler fit using the same holes (apart from a new hole needed for the brake light cable).

Thanks in advance,

Gavin :)

Pull the carpet interior down and undo the 3 bolts, try not to drop them.!!

It is possible to break the spoiler if your not careful (ask dobedo..cough cough)coz thats what i did :P anyway tap the bolts gently and hopefully it should be O.K
