in the big smoke, im working in a new Safer neighbourhoods team, one skipper, two pcs, 3 pcso's. Shame you havent had same level of service, but we have already turfed out kids that are upsetting local businesses and residents near their school and sent them on their way quicker.

We are also making one of our problem drinking areas a "no drinking zone" whereby the drink can be confiscated.

I know there is that borough in london that has introduced a Good Behaviour Zone and have already been splitting groups of kids up as you were referring under legislation in the revamped crime and disorder act set by blunkett.

:offtopic: of work. In my county, we suffer from a lack of police officers, and as a resident I suffer a frustrating probs myself acting as "a member of the public" out of work with these groups, and dont get a police response myself~!!!!

I had a council questionaire through about anti social behaviour and I slated the questionnaire in my choices of tick boxes.......And put my profession down at the end.

That's 'cos you're not paying enough tax.

80% increase in council tax since Labour came to power is not enough. They want more money. It's a closed shop too. You can't buy your own weapons off the internet unless your a crook. If you wake up in the middle of the night at home and shoot the scum in the back they send YOU to prison instead.

In the US anyone caught trespassing gets both barrels. And I'm not talking booze.

Just think if the police were privatised. They don't turn up, you don't pay their wages.

Craig

Here's a story for ya.

My neighbours, kids screaming outside one night.

I go out and help.

Their mother is missing.

I ring Police again on thier behalf at 11.35PM

I ring Police agin on thier behalf 12.45AM

I went to bed as I was tired

Police turn up at 2.45AM

Next morning I wake up there is many police.

Morning after, forenstic officers at their house.

thereafter reporters and police guards

4 days after call, body found in layby.

Reporters interview me, I tell the police respond time story..

Goes into Evening standard.

What are we paying our Taxes for?

Perhaps to house and feed the illegals..

all they do is look out for young drivers & pin anything on you no matter how minor. when they should be catching real criminals. last wk there was a robbery (3/4 youths ALL with guns)at a betting shop in romford, someone nearby called the police asap & they turned u p 3 hours later even though it was an emergency call.

i was stopped for using supposedly 'Blue' lights on my old car(that wasn't blue) or maybe slight but unnoticeable, so is HID lights on GS300, Audi TT & BMW's, do they get stopped? i got fined for it. he tried to make out it was people like me that stop them from responding to emergency calls & i didnt ask them to stop me & while i got stopped i kept quiet hoping to get it over & done with & go & it was them that was wasting my time by giving me a lecture & chatting sh it.

Craig, weve had the same sort of trouble down my way a few months back, get onto the council and report the problems to them and contact your local MP,try to get everyone in your street to complain to,the more the better...things have since been sorted out,the police did respond better down here as they had many calls to them in a short time.

Good luck.

right.

Police deal with ASBO's. Have to nick for disorderly behaivour a number of times, public order etc. Then can apply to a magistrate for an ASBO. Or subject can agree with an ABC, acceptable behaviour contract, and fail this, leads to requesting for an ASBO. And once set, these can be very restrictive, stating where the subject cannot go, otherwise they are arrestable, and states what behavoiur they must refrain from

The council deal with ASBI's Anti Social Behaviour Injunction. Your coucil will have an anti social behaviour department specifically set up for this.

As all things, the coucil deal with it as a civil matter (i think), and it is easier (less red tape) for them to introduce an ASBI against an individual rather than police an ASBO. This is some of your ammunition against repeat offenders to discuss with your council.

As previously said, "partnership", local authorites and police working together has been around for 6 years. It is now with the safer neighbourhoods initiative, that Mr Blair and Mr blunkett are forcing the authoritires to work closer to reclaim the streets for the residents/community, and it is for the community, to work also in partnership with each other and these authorities to curb the anti social behaviour under "partnership" This includes enforcing on the "shop" selling the alcohol working eith the group also........

Get onto your council anti social behaviour team.

scorpion mate.

The NorthWest london borough I work in will have an idiotic shoplifter nicking £35 worth of goods from Asda, takes one car off the road.....

A firearms incident may occur, you will come across something direct where someone needs arresting, pubilc order, an assault on police, there will be a injury accident that requires lots of writing up to an hour at the scene plus after the accident occured, a sudden death requires ages for cid, coroners, involving relatives, and collection by undertakers. Throw in a couple of racially aggravated crime reports for crim dam, running to an I call of a "suspects on" A burglar.

A call where there were a number of cars involved will take officers off the road for corroborating evidence, taking up to 3 hrs plus of writing back at the station after an arrest, involving maybe up to 3 cars plus.....Then, an abandoned 999 call to police that needs investigating etc.

essentially we have I (immediate)call after I call coming out, the controller has to grade each call and maybe the lads drinking has to drop down the scale at the particular time.....

There have been occasions in these warmer, longer evenings, when we have run out of cars/officers due to arrest situations and required evidence due to invlovement of officers, arresting. witnessing, handling evidence/property, dealing with victim, obtaining a statement, securing a scene/cordon. liasing with cid after a major incident, road closures, dealing with suspect, booking in proceduces at custody.

sometimes, resources just run out, and officers might have "run out" on that call, frustrating yes, especially if a burglar or robber or attempted murderer gets away from a scene whilst police are tied up with paperwork.

"AS the council dont have to rush out of their offices and deal with another Emergency call without prior planning which pushes their work back further, then YES, maybe they can give you more quality time in setting up the ASBI whilst sitting in their office at their own pace without a victim of crime requiring them immediately."

And my borough parades 15 officers on late turn, traditionally busier, maybe a quiter county has even less parading oficers.

So, no, not pasing the buck, but traditionally the council have more office time to set the ASBI up as a dedicated team. And those workling on the ASBI are generally lawyers employed by the council.

I know a lot of you are gonna shoot me down in flames for this but craig the omly way to deal with them is to give em some of there own ,follow them when they leave with a few mates and give them a f***** good kicking ,i learn't this a long time ago ,the police do a hard job and i have the greatest respect for them but there hands are tied these kids treat them like s*** and have no respect,we have a community police officer outside our local school and the kids lean out of the bus window and shout abuse at him all the time .And look on the bright side if you get caught you can insist on the same holiday in cornwall that they send the scumbags ,bit of absailing canoeing etc .

All at the risk of them damaging your car!!!

What i do is,and it has happened on some estates i go on is focus on the ring leader(if they're kids)slip him a fiver and ask him to keep an eye on your car....works everytime.

Id like to add a point here... my partner is a police officer and when he gets an arrest in I dont see him till the next day some times due to the paperwork they have to deal with.

Once on nights, he started at 10pm and was due to finish at 6am .he had an arresst in at 5.50am. He did not get back home till at least 2pm that day affter having done all his paper work for court as th person was not bailable and had to attend court that same afternoon. Some of the case files can be as thick as a novel! It is crazy. i saw this, when he briefly brought one home once to complete on one very bad occasion.

As to the person at the begining not getting police turn up when a 7 year old was sitting on someones car drinking alcohol, from what I have been told, it is easy to run out officers sometimes when it goes FUBAR.

People dont get to court without paper work and thats just the way it is.

The government set the criteria, the police have to adhere to the load.

becuase th police, like you, are frustrated with having to consider the human rights of the suspect, and everything has to be dot the i's and cross the t's as to the evidence so the defence solicitor doesn't request the case thrown out of court.

Accountability and justification has to be so covered.

My partner, would love to write a quick arrest book, pass the case over to a civil support network, and then get out to deal with 7 year olds drinking and sitting on cars, and then get to every problem the same evening, but that is not the way it is.

The police as per your quote "go on about their paperwork" because they want to get out of custody quicker TO HELP everyone they can. But Uk justice is SWAYED TOWARDS THE SUSPECT and there needs to be so much accountability. My partner is a "new" father and hates staying on "to book on his overtime" unless necessary and doesnt rip the overtime just for extra wages.
