Sat Nav On Imported Car

Is this the factory fitted sat nav system in an Altezza?

P1010011.sized.jpg

What are the options to make use of this screen on a car imported to the UK?

Can the sat nav be upgraded for the UK?

If not, can a replacement system make use of the screen?

And if neither of the above, can it be used for TV pictures?

Cheers

Ian

Hi mate, yes that is the factory fitted screen.

It cannot be upgraded to wotk in the UK.

Think the UK SATNAV would require a different screen with more pixels (Could be wrong)

To finance the new sat nav if you so decide, you could auction your existing SATNAV and wiriing loom on the Yahoo auctions in Japan... should get at least a couple of hunder quid for it...

Hope this helps you out a little mate...

You can utilise the monitor and purchase a U.K nav unit to link via RGB and fit new speaker of new nav for voice Approx £1000 from the likes of VDO

You would have to control the new Nav with it's own remote controller.

You will not be able to utilise the built in TV tuner if you have one.

You can get a video composite to RGB converter to input a NTSC DVD/TV tuner picture (£220 for adaptor)

Thanks Steve - so with a converter, the Sat Nav essentially becomes a screen, which I can connect to an after market Sat Nav or TV tuner. £1K sounds more reasonable, and something that could be worth doing.

Do you have any links for a suitable converter - I've tried a google search, but it comes up with NTSC to PAL versions, which I guess is the wrong way.

Cheers

Ian
