Is it worth taking the car to Germany if UK dealers won't honour the warranty?

As your charger was fitted by TTE warranty should be valid and all cars now have a pan-European warranty.

How much is it gonna cost me to get the car to gremany though ?

The cost of a ferry ticket and fuel for the tow car, not a lot when compared to buying a new block.

If you need a trailer to put a car on, they are pretty cheap to hire, we hired one to take the missus car on when the transmission siezed (it was a Vitara, so it wouldn't tow!!!) :lol:

p.s. hope you get it sorted fairly painlessly Chris :unsure:

Slight bit of good news

Checked all the diagnostics thoroughly today, no fault codes registered and the data is only recorded if the rpm exceeds 6000.

Which should now classify thisas a major mechanical failure.

But its still not been authorised to repair.

o.k G.O.D hears one for you.... if no6 is the most likely to go due to it being nearest the bulk head and the one that gets the hottest.. why have manufacturers not cottened on to this and made sure there is a better way of cooling no 6????

its not a common problem, but due to the way the engine is mounted , means its a problem, that can arise.

ive blown so many Jaguar 4.6 (about 12) engines because of this very problem of number 6 cylinder overheating and having conrod bearing failiure.

ive blown 2 BMW 2.5 engines because of the same problem

That sounds like good news Chris, what's that you say about data being recorded above 6k - is that only fault data or does it record every time you go above 6k revs when driving hard - if so how bigs the memory cos mine must be getting full :P

Sounds like they are dragging their heels a bit though mate, although from what you say it sounds like things are going in your favor! Good luck!

as ive said its NOT A COMMON PROBLEM.........its a problem that can happen, but mechanical failiure can happen on all engines, just that the cause on inline 6 is that if there is a problem with number 6 cylinder, its down to the reason i have said

crikey.....suddenly everyone thinks there number 6 is gonna go POP

According to the engine block, that's what I have

Hope it can be sorted out on warranty Chris

Little more info

The block has gone in two place's, it is no 6 piston

There is a large hole on the drivers side of the block and a small hole on the back left hand corner by the starter.

The sump has also been holed by the conrod.
