18 Pin In Stereo

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I a guy from sweden who recently bought a Lexus IS200 mod 2000 :driving: .

Im think about changing the headunit to a aftermarket one. I removed my original stereo and saw that there is an 18 pin contact on the stereo.

Is there any Harness adaptor leads for this?

Autoleads say i should go for PC2-17-4 or PC9-411. But no one seem to fit.

Anyone changed their stereo with 18 pin contact without cutting the cords?

By the way, love the car.

Thanx //Jocke

If your IS has a factory amp, you will need to get the speaker wires from there.

There is no current adaptor plug available for the amplifier end.

Some Lex owners without the onboard amp are able to use the Autoleads part.

I hope this helps, sorry for the late reply...

Are most aftermarket stereos able to power the 8 speakers that were driven by the amp before?

For example, I heard the speakers have a different impedance (poss 8 Ohm instead of 4 Ohm) and that connecting up and aftermarket headuint direct to the speakers would kill them. Do you need line converters or somthing?

I have a Pioneer headunit and want to do a smilar thing, but obviously I dont want to kill the speakers.

Does anyone have a guide to show how to get the stock amp out?

Cheers,

Russell
