Repair Quotes

Hi Guys

Some numpty hit the car in the rear bumper on Saturday morning - :tsktsk: er!!

Anyway, insurance company says get 2 quotes from garages and we'll pick which one to go to.

Obviously wanna get it done at Lexus Hatfield, thing is they are gonna pick the cheapest quote out of the 2, aren't they.

Anyone got any idea how I can make sure I can get it done at the Lexus garage??

Usually you can have it done wherever you want, but if you don't use the one they suggest then they may not give you things like a courtesy car or other incidental benefits your policy might offer.

But if you are claiming through the third party insurers (not necessarily your own) - then you have the right to be put back in the position you were in before the knock, which may mean you want to insist it being done to full Lexus standards.

(Incidentally, one of the benefits of the Gold Members policy is the right to another Lexus whilst yours is off the road, I believe.)

Now someone who knopws about insurance can put me right, but I believe the above to be true.

Dont hold me to this but i am almost certain i read somewhere that even though insurance companies will not openly admit to this and will obviously try to get the work done for the cheapest quote, you are entitled by law to have the car repaired at a main dealers repair shop.

despite attempting to push you otherwise, you do have the right to decide where YOU want the car repairs to be carried out.

Lexus Hatfield use a reputable repair centre in Luton I believe, as they state they dont have theior own body shop.

I think you're all correct. Had a guy from Premier Bodyshop in Luton look at it yesterday who Hatfield use. I told him I had to get another quote after his, he says "don't bother, I'll tell your insurance company your getting it done here!" End of!!
