Clonk Noise When Braking

when turning at slow speeds and braking theres a low clonk noise from the front an ideas what it may be

The pads in the calipers do this every morning when I reverse out of the garage & turn around in the drive. After that its fine.

I think it is quite a common occurance. (rather than 'problem' :D )

Could also be ball joints.

Any ideas how to check ball joints other than take it to dealership

I am now experiencing the same type of problems, is there any chance it could be front bushes. If so how easy is to replace them I have done them on a previous car and it was quite simple?

I have only just got my car back from Lexus about a week ago ..........

The clonking / creasing noise was the clips holding the pads in place.

Lexus just re-tensioned the clips, and now all is fine !

It just seems as though the sound is getting worse making me think it is more like a ware problem.

Mine was just the same mate ......... it got to a point where you could even feel the judder on your brake pedal !! and people would turn around because they could hear the car ....

I'm pretty sure it's just the clips !

I had this problem and agree with scarface - Lexus Stockport changed the clips that hold the caliper in place under warranty - all gone now and no clonking noise!

Been looking for this thread - my clonking noise on breaking is back - how many people have the same problem???

I used to have it on my Mk.1 GS. Would clunk once when stopping, then would behave until stopping in the other direction (i.e. reverse), when it would clunk back again.

well i had this problem and i took the clips out, greased them up with copper ease and re fitted. noise all gone now!

Are the clips easy to re-tension? if its going to be hard then maybe i should just buy some new omes.....anyone know a price on new ones. or is it the usual toyota parts price of about £100,000 per clip. :P
