Please Help - Advice On Stained Leather Seat

Recommended Posts

The drivers seat ('Oakham', cream coloured leather) in my RX300 has a some dark marking across the backrest, about 6 inches up from the seat base. My guess is that this has been caused by some sort of staining or dye transfer from my black leather belts.

I've tried to remove it using Autoglym leather cleaner and when this didn't work I asked the local Lexus dealer to have a go at it.

They haven't had any luck , so now I'm puzzled as to what to do. I'm obviously quite frustrated by this, as the car is just 2 years old and is otherwise completely as new, both inside and out.

Should I :

a: contact Lexus UK for advice?

b: try to find a leather specialist?

c: phone the Samaritans ?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

Many thanks,

Martin.

For the non-leather parts of the seat, when I had my IS I used to use a suede brush to get rid of any marks.

For the full leather in my GS I use Zymol leather cleaner/conditioner and try and do it once a month. Good stuff!

DON'T try to do it yourself because you could cause more damage. I see this sort of thing all the time.

Its not a big problem at all. Call a Mobile Leather repair specialist from your yell pages. They should either be able to clean it of with a special solvent or redye the area. A good technician should be able to make your seat look like new again.

Leather must be cleaned regularly with the proper cleaner.

NOT HOUSHOLD CLEANERS!

The best products are usually only available to the trade so it makes sence to call out a good valeter once in a while to clean and feed the leather to help keep it from drying out. Especialy with cars with air con. Every 3 months should keep your leather like new. Pop it into a valeter and see if they can help but do not scrub it!
