The engine is all alloy. Don't believe Toyota have ever mated a manual gearbox to it in any of their vehicles, only 4 or 5 speed autos. Different revisions 240, 260 and 280 bhp in UK spec in the LS400 MKI/II, MKIII and MKIV.

Thanks for the info so far,

So I'm looking at a all alloy engine

A manual gearbox could be sourced from a Supra,

Cable or hydrolic clutch

Getting Better, :driving:

But what size is the engine in inche's

Lenght Front of fan to rear of block,

Width Across Exhauct manifold's (Widest point)

Height Bottom of sump to top of injection (Highest point)

No one local to me has one I can measure up.

If your thinking of putting it in an IS.........it WILL fit,no problem.

Though looking at your profile i guess not as you haven't listed which model Lexus you drive.

Hi Guys, new member here but my interests strike a similar vein as SprintV8's.

BTW the measurementsof the Lexus V8 overall are 650mm x650mm x 650mm , very much a 650mm cube.

My interest is that I have just finished building a Cobra Replica and have put a "breathed on" BMW V8 ( 350bhp) with Tiptronic box in it.

I have now just ordered another kit and I am thinking very seriously about putting a Lexus V8 into the cobra replica. I was the first in the world with a Cobra with BMW power but thers a guy in australia who has put a Lexus V8 into a Cobra but with twin Turbos and mated to a Skyline four wheel drive system.

My questions are these, how easy is it to get the Lexus V8 to run without all its electronic gubbins such as cruise control, AC etc, and what would be the best gearbox to mate it all to, should I keep the auto or go for an uprated and modified Supra manual box ?

All info welcome !

Cheers,

Tony :D
