whilst away at the weekend i had a flick through a copy of what car magazine. i looked up the is200 and it told me that the is200 does 0-60 in 10.3 secs

i know its not the fastest car off the line but its not that bad!

I used a Gmeter timing toy thing and thats about the time i got from my car doing 0-60

in fact i dont think I got it as low as 10.3 more like 10.8 or so for my car

So according to the figures an RX 300 has a quicker 0-60 time!

I know it is quick for a 4X4 but I thought the IS was quicker.

yeah, the Is aint that quick TBH, but it does ok

Isn't it all down to the IS200 needing a second gear change (into 3rd gear) to hit 60. So for 0-55mph it is quite quick, but the 0-60 time is hit by another gear change. Most cars will fly past 60 in second.

Slow to get going OK ..... but get it up between 60 and 110 and it goes like a good thing. We can't have it everyway ....... or can we ???

****, even my pimpmobile was quoted at 8.3 seconds back in 1989 (realistically probably closer to 9 secs right now). Not bad for a grandpa car ;-)

The RX is way quicker than the IS in a straight line. It's traction off the line is fantastic and if you just bury the throttle it hangs on to every gear until the red line.

Faster, until you meet a bend or a roundabout that is, .................................................. when it all goes pear shaped.

MK1 8.3 secs

MK2 7.9 secs

And the GS is considered the old mans car :)

official figures for the the GS300 are

Series I 8.6

Series II 8.2

US figures for Mk1 Ls400 put it at 7.9 secs, plus they quote 250bhp versus 241bhp that UK cars got.

Hadn't some uK car mag tested the Mk2 GS300 at 7.4 secs? I will try and find it.

Doubt it's that quick. The US version doesn't do it that quick. Maybe that were just using the speedo.

The times I put up were 0-62 times so the 0-60 would be about 0.3s less.
