European Moderately Priced Hotel Chains

In the UK we have Travelinn, Travelodge, Holiday Inn Express and others.

Are there any European equivalents? With informative websites?

Formula1

is a chain which I'm told is economical and pan european.

formula 1 is cheap and chearful dont expect too much but its ok, u can try ibis, they are all the same and have always found them to be good.

Avoid F1 - really shabby. Go for Ibis - very smart, cheap and comfortable.

I've always got on very well with Campanile. They do an all you can eat buffet in the evening that's cheap and scrummy, or did last year anyway.

Formula 1 is part of the Accor chain which includes IBIS.......

i have a card with IBIS/Accor, and find the IBIS Hotels very good..........especially the one in Cologne, which i seem to be spending more and more time at.

Travelling down through France once and looking for a place to sleep I saw a Formula 1, stopped to have a look but it looked really scummy. No person working there, you put your credit card in a slot and it dispensed a key. It really did look awful.

Over the road was a Novotel, also part of the Accor group. A bit more expensive but was lovely with a bar etc which was very welcome. I think IBIS is a good mid level between the two.
