Keyless Remote

My Two year old son has gone and lost my car keys which was also my keyless remote key, can I purchase an after market keyless remote and what would be involved in programming it to work on my car.

Any information appreciated.

When I picked up my RX300 SE sat/nav, one month ago from Lexus Edgware Road, I was given two master keys and one service key.

I was told not to loose the two master keys as this would require replacement locks on the RX300 at a cost of £3,000.

So it's bad news if you can't find you key or until your two year old learns to speak.

There is no need to replace the locks - a new key can be cut to fit them, it's the cost of replacing the ecu which stores the key programming. This also depends on the age. With newer models dealers are able to program new master keys without an existing one, so it should just be 0.5 - 1 hour labour and the cost of a new key (£150).
