Alloy Bubbling Is200 Se

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased an IS200 SE after years of admiration and drooling, the car is 3 years old with 40k on the clock, got a very good deal and very happy with the car - apart from one issue hence the good deal. Some of the alloys have some mild bubbling - anyone know how this caused and where I can get them sorted?? Is it pricey?? :o

The bubbling is caused by because there is no laquer on the back of the alloy, thus allowing the dirt to creep in and go under the surface on the outside of the alloy.

This is a common problem and Lexus are aware of it.

I had 3 replacement sets, free of charge, under warranty without any quibble from Lexus. (They were very good).

It might be worth talking to them although I suspect they may have an issue with the age of your car, but it's worth a try!

Failing that it would mean buying new ones ot having them re furbished.

Hope this helps

Welcome to the Lexus clan !

I've had the same after 5 months of buying my car new. Unfortunatly your car is probably out of warrenty now but try contacting Lexus as they changed all mine with no problems at all and they have been fine since.

I agree with the others. Lexus are well aware of this, you can only give it a go!

I told Lexus Oxford that two of my wheels were showing signs of going milky, (the first stages of corrosion in aluminium), they changed all four without a question!
