Is300 Auto Reverse Alarm

Had the IS300 Sports Cross for a few months and luv it. However, there is a loud audible alarm when I select reverse. I have parking scensors fitted. Can anyone tell me if the alarm is standard on the auto or is it coming from the parking scensors. More to the point, can it be isolated or at least quietened down a tad?

I believe that it is behind the glove compartment but can't pin it down.

The wife cringes and moans every time I select reverse, if I can't find a solution, the wife will have to go!

Its the parking sensors, they do a self test when reverse gear is selected. I think its handy, it reminds you that you are in reverse just like the manaul IS200.

Thanks for the info. The manual stays on until you de-select - was annoying but I could see the sense with first and reverse so close. The Auto is not so easy to get wrong although I can appreciate the self test requirement for the parking sensors. My problem is, why is it sooo loud?

Can't really say i've noticed it being loud, its only on for a couple of seconds. ^_^

Is this a special sound that comes on that is too loud or are the reverse beeps too loud as well? I have an IS200 auto with the parking sensors and its not that loud, I normally have to turn down the stereo to hear it, although my speaker is located on the rear parcel shelf

The sound is only a single bleep. The reverse alarm on the manual is constant whilst this just sounds off when the gear is selected. I had parking scensors on an IS200 Manual and they emitted a subtle chime which was barely audible above the reverese gear alarm. If only this could be the same.

Looks like I'll have to ask when it goes in for it's next service.
