Email Security Warning

Today I received an email from a bank... this email was forged.

Whithin this email it requests to update your data by clicking a link. As I am aware that this was a way to get information about you I thought i would take a look at the link to see what the scam was.

As I clicked the link I received an erorr on my screen saying the port on my PC was closed for security reasons... Probably as I am behind a Cisco firewall.

However, I have never seen this before and looked well dodgy.

in fact any link from a dodgy email you should not click.

These scam emails are unfortunately quite frequent.

I had a similar scam some time ago but my Norton Internet Security showed the actual address you would be replying to.

Not that I would ever be fooled by these but I know of :

Barclays

Halifax

Paypal

eBay

One more to add to the list is Citibank - I believe there's a virus attached to this one too. I went to forward it to Citibank and it got knocked back at their firewall.
