Marine Aquarium

has anyone got a marine aquarium.

ive been thinking about one for a while now but have wondered how much time is needed to keep it healthy for fish and looking good.

people at fish places recon 8 hours a week it seems alot..

any advice would be great

hi mate,ive kept fish for years tropical,pond and marine for a short while,as gordon says marine are or can be a nightmare to keep.the salt content must be perfect ,it wouldnt be so bad if the fish wernt so exspensive ,read up and get as much advice as possible first mate as marine keeping can be a money pit. :)

following on from this - i am thinking of getting a really basic small aquarium or goldfish bowl - i am after something low maintenance only prob is that i am only here for 5 days then am away for 5 days. what sort of stuff am i looking to get pump filter ? etc.

Hello Mate

I keep a small aquarium of 6 fancy goldfish, got them mainly cos their stones went well with the kitchen decor (dont ask me, was the misses idea), the tank came as a kit, with pump, stones & obligitry sunken pirate ship, with the 6 fish & a bit of plant I think it came in at less than £40-50.

And to be honest with you, it's realy relaxing to watch. Feed them 3 times a day, only need cleaning out about once a month & in the summer they even breed... Although they eat the eggs before any hatch.
