You know what - I totally and completely understand every damm line of this. *** I must be old.

But they were the good ol' days.

But you forgot something which we all did Im sure:

1. Scrumping !

2. Riding pillion on the Raliegh Chopper - cos the little sign on the seat said you shouldnt !

3. Making a swing out of a bit of wood and a length of discarded rope, usually over the most perillous swamp you can find.

We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all.

I'm not old, @ 22 - But I can relate to that one ..... I used to have one of those computer games that were stick figures on either side, and you could play tennis or basketball.

Then came .... the Sinclar ZX Spectrum ...... then the Commadore 64 .... hmmmm LOL !!

I know you must have had a sinclair, and or a commadore 64 - with those really funky tape decks, and cartridges that used to plug in the back !

I do remeber doing alot of these aswell, have to say, these were the days, never had any problems with the police, remember coming home from school, on the way would find a good big hedge, would cut out an opening, cover the insudes with carboard and then start to ambush the other kids and then sneak back for another attack when they turned away.

I'm with you Scarface, had a computer since I was 4, but up until 11 I was like everything else in this thread, then like you say, the C64 and Amiga habits kicked in and I never left the house for years!

I must be the generation that was caught in the middle as I remember all the other stuff!

Got done forscrumping at school too as there was an apple tree on the wall and we'd chuck all sorts at it!

And is it me or when you see the school's now do they seem smaller than when you were there - my infant school seemed to be massive at the time and when I see it now it's really small!!!

I can look out of my office window right now and think to myself

"I can remember when all this was fields"

I remember going to a schoolr reunion 2 or 3 years ago, and I went to my old classroom. The plastic seats were really small, and Im sure the little bit of chewed up paper that I fired at the ceiling through my biro was still there.

I visited the back of the engineering shop where everyone went for a fag

and I met my old headmaster, who still has halitosis, and still carries the big bible under his arm which he used to use as a weapon.

I had school dinner, with those lovely small scoops of mashed tatty and tapioca pudding with a little dollop of cheap jam.

Oh, the good ol' days are gone forever........

I must admit, i remember all of that stuff....and your right, kids of today are light weights, compared to what we were like then!....I mean, when i used to go out with a pocket full of change, it was heavy,, every bloody coin we had was ten times bigger than it is now..I come from a time when, if you had a ten bob note, you were the mutts nuts. A bottle of Corona, some fruit salads and blackjacks, a bag of Smiths crisps and you still had enough change to last the week( and don't forget the refund on your empty Corona bottle)

The world seemed to be a safer place then and people generally trusted each other a lot more. your pusbike was the most important thing, and you would ride it miles without even thinking about it.

And if it ever got as far as getting in trouble with the police, you were genuinley **** scared, of them and what your parents may do to you....when i got sent to my room and grounded, it was like a prison cell with nothing to do, unlike my kids, whose rooms resemble Dixons!...stereos, t.v's,dvd,s etc etc..where's the punishment?

As for mobiles, well we used to have to go to the nearest phone box to make a call, that is, if it hadn't been vandalised by one of your mates the week before, who had probably been trying to get some cash for the local fairground that had been pitched up in some field nearby.....the H.S.E would have a field day checking one of those places out..

Has anyone else noticed how ill all the kids look these days, compared to the rosey faced examples of how us oldens looked back then..not enough outdoor activity and too much hi tec mate!

Mind you i bet our parents thought we probably had it easy too..
