Levers For Boot And Petrol Cap

Recommended Posts

Why is it that I have to put some muscle into pulling up my petrol cap release lever inside the car before it will open? When my car was younger, it just needed a small pull and it would pop open! Now it needs yanking a couple of times!

Any why does my boot release lever release the boot but it no longer bounces open, all it does is release the catch but I have to lift it up?

I'll get it all looked at when I get the next service and I guess the answer is just that it all needs lubricating but just wondered if there were any quick fixes???

LOL. Yeah, lazy it does sound but when your dragged round town with the missus and she loads you up with shopping to carry, I used to like to possibility of just pressing the button, the lid pops up and I can just chuck it all in at the same time. Yes, okay, maybe only 2 secs to put the shopping on the floor, open boot, pick shopping up and put in.

Just a nice little 'facility' that I used to enjoy having on the car!!

i dont want to sound lazy but i really like the boot pop up!

i have just sound proofed my boot and now the boot door is so heavy that it will not move! also plan on putting a spoiler on the car so again will make it heavier!

is there any way of adapting it or an aftermarket product that will mean i dont loose the opening boot!

or will i actually have to get off my fat ***** and actually use my hand! :hehe:

perhaps some assistance from a gas operated opener. like what you find in hatch backs. that should do the trick shouldnt it. wouldnt be too much work to sort the brackets out either i wouldnt have thought
