So recently ive been thinking about getting a cheap run about for travelling to work and back as ive bene caining the milage....20k since march and now this bolt incident has given me another reason..

SO anyone got or know of a cheap runaround,, like 2-300 quid,, say upto a 1.5 engine,, not fussy what make.. let me know..

i'd say go for an Astra or Escort at that price.. semi reliable, and v cheap to fix..

Go to car dealers and ask for old part exchanged vehicles. As scrap yards now charge to take in old cars it is cheaper for the dealer to sell you a car for £1 rather than pay £30+ to have it scraped.

yep i also did 17k in the first 9 months i had mine.. Was looking for an astra diesel, ended up with with a 1.8 Cav with 8 months MOT for £320, plus tax on Top!!

I get my cousins to keep an eye out, if you havent found anything..

go for an orion 1.6i ghia, parts dead easy to get and u get to play with the trip computer. loved my orion when i had it years ago!

I was also running up the miles on my lex, so I bought a fiesta ghia for £600 and It's been ace, put 18k miles on it with no probs at all.

But yesterday I went out and got myself a 1.7td GLS vectra (96) and now have 2 run abouts

I am now forced to take the bus to work (only 6miles away but takes an hour ) ... so my Lex is pretty much just for evenings and weekends so the runabout has been gone for a while..

i bought myself a van

great for trips to the rubbish tip and can get loads of shopping in it :duh:

it does pay for itself though i do a bit of courier work with it

keeps the miles down on the lex though :)
