My Altezza On Its Way... Esva Answers Pls

Hi all LOC members

I have purchased an Altezza from Japan and its on its way over.

Could anyone help me on some question about passing the ESVA?

Would I need a model report and if so where would I get one?

Do I need to change the size of the fuel inlet?

What are the rules with HID headlights?

The car has non-standard suspension would I need to change these back to the standard ones?

Apart from changing/install Speedo converter, immobiliser, fog lights and emission test is the anything I would need to change/install or know about?

from my limited understanding you will need to get the car back to std .............

so suspension exhausts etc..............all need to be bog standard.

I've got some bits you can borrow to get you thru it.............no charge just postage costs.

If it faults on the HID lights I might need to borrow some standard head light.

It’s coming over with standard suspensions and exhaust in the boot, with the performance ones on.

You need to get in touch with AltezzaScott if he's not too busy. he got me my Altezza and he put it through ESVA. Good thing he knew the Altezzas inside out too!!!

you will need a model report, they are available for the AUTO

you will need to revert the car back to std, you will need to remove the HID conversion kit for the headlights

You will need to fit a fuel neck restrictor, foglights, speedo converter and Cat 1 alarm.

I found a company that would pass the ESVA for me but it would cost me bout £600

I’m capable with car and have helped a friend prep his skyline to pass the old SVA test bout 10 mouths ago but since they changed the rule its messed things up.

Do you think I should use them or pass the ESVA myself?

if your able to do the required changes then go for it, if not........then the choice is yours.

You're unlikely to find anyone who will 'lend' you a Model Report. They cost anything from around £1500 to £5000 to create. The person who commissions and pays for the report then owns the intellectual rights to that report - in your case modelreports.com. They can then rent the report out for a charge and so eventually make their money back.

Your only options are to pay the rental fee, or commision your own report... £300 vs £3000ish... of course, you'd then own a model report that you could rent out. However you'd be in direct competition with modelreports.com who are already established and well known, so it might take you a long time to get your money back

Of course you only need an ESVA with a model report if your vehicle is post 1996.

Full list of model reports available to the public can be found on VOSA's website - you might be lucky and find someone else with a report for a bit less, but the £200-300 mark seems to be the going rate for most vehicles
