Anyone had experience changing the heater control valve for 92-94 sc400?

Is it a big job?

Thanks in advance for any advices.

I also have this problem. It seems to be in the Heater Control Valve assembly. Lexus part number: 87-240. My mechanic is going to remove the vacumn assembly and try to fix it. Replacing the whole assembly is Very expensive.

Yes you are correct in saying it is the heater control solenoid that has failed.

It is a common problem on the soarer.A quick fix is to just take it out and join the pipes if you do not have a replacement.

Its not a really difficult job more awkward than anything

I got my heater system working again. It was the solenoid on the Heater Control Valve.

Got one very cheaply at a salvage yard and my mechanic put it on in about ten minutes. All works great now. My mechanic said that we could probably have used a solenoid from a Toyota Supra. But all is good now. (Sure do like some heat on these cold mornings)

:D :P

What was the characteristics of your problem? My wife drives a 1993, and her car was only blowing cold air this morning, and I can't get it to blow hot air anymore. Was this the same problem you were having, and if so, can anyonre point me in the right direction to get the parts in the states and where this heater control valve is located so I can fix it.

Also, when you say just take it out and connect the tubes together, what do you mean exactly? That seems simple, but is there any negative effects to do that? Will the A/C still work, etc?

Thanks for the help,

Chris
