Rx300 Mk1 Oil Odour

Hello,

I own a 2001 RX300 and since last year I have started smelling burned oil after driving on the autoroute. It is quite ennoying, especially when you stop and let the car idle for at least 30 sec - 1 min, then you can easily notice this ennoying smell coming through the aircon or even outside the car.

The Lexus dealer did work on car several times but never found the root cause.

Anyone with something similar?

When changing the oil filter it is difficult not to let some oil run down the side of the engine which will burn off and smell.

Also look under the vehicle where the engine and gearbox join as rear main seal failure is not unheard of
